After his tenure at the Canarias Basketball Academy, he made the leap to the United States to play at prestigious University of Portland and now, after a year of getting accustomed to the professional ranks, he starting to shine in the second most important division of Spanish Basketball with Footwear Robusta La Rioja.
Volodymir Herun (2.13 meters and only 22 years old) is one of the proper names at the start of the season in the LEB Gold. The young Ukrainian post player is going from less to more as the season progresses and is currently the most valued player of his team and the second best U23 of the whole competition.
He’s averaging 15.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 17.8 points in the 24:33 minutes per game he plays. He is the fourth in scoring , 15th in rebounding and fifth in fouls received (5,11). His evolution has not gone unnoticed for the internet site ‘Zona de Basquet‘, one of the most experienced media sites in FEB competitions and that points to Volodymir as the MVP between matches 7 and 9.
Rob Orellana, director of the CBA who is not surprised by Herun’s high performance had this to say about the Ukrainian center: “He is a player with a lot of potential and knows how to do a lot of things very well, he has great potential to play basketball and defensively is a very committed player, gives everything. He is the kind of player that every coach would want on his team, I have great memories of him and I’m glad he’s caught the attention of people. He’s a great guy”.
