Canarias Basketball Academy is already among the best sixteen teams in the Spanish Championships and two games away of making history and reaching the quarterfinals. All these things happened because its U18 team defeated Colegio Leonés (93-54) in the second day of the competition that is being held in Torrejón de Ardoz from the 3rd to the 9th of May.

The Academy showed all its virtues on the court in a match-up where it went from lowest to higuest. The squad from León was not easy to surpass in the beginning because it had a 0-8 run in the first quarter (from 11-2 to 11-10) which obliged the Grancanarian team to stop the game. Nevertheless, CBA recovered and reached minute 10 winning 20-10.

The gradual improvement made the team dressed in white lead with a bigger distance at halftime, moment in which Alejandro González was the best player with 9 points (3 three-pointers).

Colegio Leonés resisted the resumption of the game and reduced the distance (48-39, minute 25), but a final 45-15 run impeded the mainland team’s options. The best CBA player was Menno Dijkstra with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 23 efficiency points, and other three exceeded ten points: Jordan Blount and Juanal Esteves with 13, and Alejandro González with 12.
