It could not be possible. No pudo ser. U18 CBA was defeated this Saturday morning by Serbian Zemun serbio (58 – 75) and will not play the Next Generation Tournament semifinals.
As opposed to the former two games, CBA started this game having mistakes but couls contain its rival on the scoreboard (13-15, minute 10).
Right after Zemun got a bigger distance thanks to pointguard Dorde Dimitrijevic and Nikola Cirkovic’s intensity. Like this, De esta forma, Sergio Salesa’s team lost 29-37 at halftime.
In the second half, the Canarian players strove to have a comeback but the opponent got a run until 17 points of advantage, a situation that CBA could not bounce back in the third quarter (44-59).
In the last period, Salesa’s team reacted (53-46), but Zemun answered with two three-pointers that made CBA lose in the end (58-75).
The most outstandind CBA player was Irish Jordan Blount (15 ranking points), followed by pointguard Jon Peña who got 12 ranking points with 11 points and 7 assists. Also in individual terms, Souleymane Diakite and Menno Dijkstra gained 10 points.
CBA is going to try to finish in the fifth position this Sunday at 9:30 (local time) vs Vaerlose at Basket City in Belgrade. An ultimate victory vs the Danish would tie the best result for CBA in the Belgrade Tournament, like in 2012.
