After being second in the first round in the Spanish Championships, Samuel Sosa’s team faced a hard test vs Unicaja Málaga (first in Group E) in the 1/8.

Canarias Basketball Academy’s players made a superb job until halftime (33-33) and an excellent first third quarter (19-9) provided the Academy a good 10-point advantage (52-42). Later Unicaja’s reaction in the last quarter (12-28) did not allow CBA win the game (64-70).

The best of the encounter was Unicaja’s Miguel Ángel Moreta who had 32 ranking points (24 points, 75% 3P, 6 rebounds and 6 fouls drawn). For CBA’s part, the most outstanding players were Luis Antonio Álvarez, who was superb (15 points, 16 rebounds, 7 fouls drawn and 19 ranking points) and Chinese Li Shengzhe, who added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 13 ranking points. In that sense,  Diego Willis and José Manuel Pérez also played great, with 17 and 14 points, respectively.

Due to this score, CBA has been eliminated in the Spanish Championships, but all the squad (both players and coaching staff) that travelled to Lleida must congratulated.
