Ex Canarias Basketball Academy’s players Yankuba Sima and Jacobo Díaz are with U19 Spanish National Team since the 7th of June in Logroño where they have played the first three preparation games for the U19 World Championship that will be held in Crete (Greece) from the 27th to the 5th of July.
Joaquín Prado’s squad clearly won in its three encounters corresponding to the Logroño Tournament in which they faced Canada (75-46), Australia (79-64) and Croatia (87-57).
Who did our ex CBA members perform? They had important roles: Sima was a starter in all the match-ups and Díaz was not in only one of them.
Against the Canadian, Sima added 3 points and 6 rebounds, whereas Díaz got 2 points and 3 rebounds.
In the second game vs Australia, Catalonian center achieved 25 ranking points (9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 fouls drawn) and native from Tenerife signed 6 points and 2 rebounds for 3 ranking points.
Furthermore, vs Croatia Sima repeated a great performance by scoring 15 points and catching 5 rebounds (22 efficiency points), as well as Jacobo Díaz, whose stats were: 7 points, 3 rebounds and 11 ranking points.
Their next step is going to be in Bilbao, city where they are going to challenge Argentina (on the 21st of June) and Dominican Republic twice (on the 20th and the 23rd of June).
Right after, they will travel to Greece where China (on the 27th), Turkey (on the 28th) and Argentina (on the 30th) await. Moreover, on the 1st of July the teams will play the 1/8, on the 3rd the 1/4, on the 4th the semifinals and on the 5th the Finals.
