Deluxe signing for Canarias Basketball Academy: Roberto Guerra, former CB Gran Canaria young teams player and captain. The 31 year-old (Marzagán, 1983-4-4) small forward has a fantastic basketball background because he has played in the second best league in the world (ACB) with several teams and also in European competitions. Furthermore, he has been internacional with the U20 Spanish National Team achieving the silver medal in Vilnius, and the bronze with the second Spanish National Team in Almería.

After being trained in the CB Gran Canaria young teams, he developed his career in ACB in that club until 2008, when he moved to Zaragoza to play for CAI for two seasons; firstly in ACB and secondly in Adecco Oro, getting the promotion to the national elite league after winning the second division (LEB Gold) championship.

Next, he belonged to CB Granada until February 2012, date in which he signed with Palencia Baloncesto, also in Adecco Oro. During the 2012-2013 season he came back to Gran Canaria and the ACB league, reaching the King’s Cup semifinals and finishing in the fourth place of the standings.

Right after signing this evening with Canarias Basketball Academy that will compete this upcoming season in Adecco Plata, Guerra has claimed that he has “good feelings; my intention is to work as hard as posible, to be ready to the return to the court and help the young boys as much as I can as an experienced player”.

His new coach, Pepe Carrión, has expressed the same ideas: “Roberto must be one of the referents of all the young players, because he has played at the highest level. Roberto Guerra’s signing for our project in Adecco Plata fits our Academy’s philosophy well, as we want a commitment not only with the CBA players, but also with all the Canarian basketball and I wish that this Adecco Plata is an intermediate step for his future”.

To end, the director at CBA, Rob Orellana, has extolled Roberto Guerra’s values, both on and off the court, since “they coincide with the Academy’s; as regards to effort, fight, work and sacrifice”. “Guerra is not only our first signing in Adecco Plata, but also the emblem of the team”, Orellana said.
