The first Canarias Basketball Academy team was presented last Wednesday evening at Centro Insular de Deportes in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the same place where it will make its debut next Saturday 4th of October at 6 pm vs Araberri in Adecco Plata.
Several people from grancanarian sport, politics and society attended and it should be noted that the sports city councillor of Las Palmas, Carlos Ester, also came.
The responsabile to speak about our project, “one of a kind in the world, which growth is yet to be valued thanks to the excitement we added” was President Rob Orellana, who also mentioned the first team of the Academy saying that “beginning the Adecco Plata at Centro Insular de Deportes is a dream, as having players likeBernardo (Hernández) or Roberto (Guerra)”, to whom he thanked their “work during the first month, which has been spectaular”.
On the other hand, the coach of this team, Pepe Carrión, explained that “it is a brand new project , which will be useful to give continuity to the Academy’s work, because we just want the players’ improvement”.
Regarding the ‘CBA Gran Canaria’’s sports aims, the coach from Seville clarified that “we are just expecting what it will come, because our club is not typical in the category. Our goal is giving continuity to this project and at first we are going to begin with the idea of keeping CBA in Adecco Plata as much time as posible”.
The press conference also served to present our new uniforms by Roberto Guerra y Berni Hernández. In that sense, we should stress that the agreement with Under Armour will last five seasons as CBA is the first European basketball club that is going to wear this prestigious brand.
Finally, we invited the media to join us during our official photo session with all our Academy’s players on the main CID’s court, as well as we took the specific photos of the first team.
