On January 16, CBA physiotherapist Marcos Castro received six students from the ULPGC (University of Las Palmas at Gran Canaria), who are performing their last year internships of their university career at the Academy. Among them, in addition, is a professional athlete.
Juan Muñoz Lechuga (San Fernando de Cádiz, 1994) is a member of Taburiente Sports Union Club who plays in the Honour Division ‘A’ of field hockey, a sport he met by chance, when a teammate of the soccer team in which he played, told him that he played field hockey as well. “It was a crush”, says Muñoz, adding: “I liked grass hockey so much that I left soccer and I dedicated myself completely to field hockey”.
Muñoz has been a Spanish National Team U21 member and, previously, was a student athlete at the CAR (High Performance Center) of Madrid, which he says, that “CBA is similar”, except that in the high performance center of the Capital there are several sports disciplines, each of them with their particularities and routines.
“Of the players at CBA, I emphasize the effort that they must make to carry out the studies with sport”, affirms the Cadiz born athlete, while qualifying: “The fact of being able to obtain a scholarship in the United States, seems to me a great incentive And, of course, a great experience, from which you can return with your finished university degree and having participated in a competition with great tradition”.
In any case, he has managed to combine both very well in Spain, as he is a step closer to finishing his studies. From there, he confesses to hosting two dreams: to be called by the Men’s National Team and to be able to carry out his work like physiotherapist in the world of the sport.
For this reason, he chose CBA as a practice center: “Both the site and the tutor are ideal for my interests and to improve, because Marcos (Castro) gives us autonomy, while guiding and advising us”, explains Muñoz.
Finally, the future Andalusian physiotherapist says that I would recommend the CBA “for everything, but especially my colleagues of faculty to come here to do their practices, because you learn a lot and the atmosphere is very pleasant”.
