U18 Canarian Championships are going to be held in Tenerife from the 16th to the 19th of April and Canarias Basketball Academy is going to take part, like last year, with its two teams: CBA White and CBA Black, first and third in the standings in the East League.

Sergio Salesa’s CBA White is in Group A, along with Caja 7 Santa Cruz, Náutico Kia Tenerife and Promociones Marabo Arrecife; whereas Carlos Velasco’s CBA Black is going to compete in Group B against Iberostar Canarias, Herbalife Gran Canaria and Endesa 97.
The first team of each group is going to have a double prize: play the Finals (on the 19th at 1 pm at Pabellón RCNT) and a direct ticket to the Spanish Championships that are going to be organized in Torrejón de Ardoz from the 3rd to the 9th of May.

Furthermore, there will be games for the third and the fifth places at 11 and 9 am, respectively, at Pabellón RCNT, whereas the game for the 7th place is going to be played at Pabellón Juan Ríos Tejera in La Laguna.
The Canarian Championships are going to start this Thrusday and firstly CBA White is going to face Náutico at Pabellón RCNT at 1 pm. Later, at 5 pm, CBA Black is going to challenge Iberostar Canarias at Pabellón Juan Ríos Tejera in La Laguna.

Junior White
On Friday CBA White is going to confront Promociones Marabo Arrecibe at 10 am at Pabellón RCNT and CBA Black is going to face Herbalife Gran Canaria at Pabellón Juan Ríos Tejera in La Laguna at 7 pm.

Junior Black
On Saturday CBA White is going to repeat the schedule at 10 am vs Caja 7 Santa Cruz at Pabellón RCNT. And, at 7 pm, CBA Black is going to play vs Endesa 97 at Pabellón Juan Ríos Tejera in La Laguna.
CBA White’s coach Sergio Salesa expects that his team qualifies for the Finals, as it arrives at this competition “with big expectations and excitement to get a ticket for the Spanish Championships”. “We know where we have our strongest points and will try to strengthen them to reach our aims; with highest respect to the rivals, we will work to win our group, be in the Finals and fight for the regional title”, he explains.
Carlos Velasco, for his part, underlines that “CBA Black is a younger team than White and not only it is going to get experience in this tournament, but also it is going to try to have a tremendous performance with the qualification to the Finals of the Canarian Championships”, and adds: “We know that it is going to be very difficult because of the opponents’ quality but nobody should beat us in excitement and hard work”.
