Canarias Basketball Academy’s first team fell on Saturday evening vs Viten Getafe (65-73) in the last game of its debut in Adecco Plata, in which CBA survived relegation two weeks in advance.

At Centro Insular de Deportes, Berni Hernández, Kaleb Wright, Roberto Guerra, Jacobo Díaz and Kostya Kulikov were the locals’ starters whereas in the visiting team the chosen ones were Víctor Moreno, Boubacar Moungoro, Sergio Mendiola, Nicholas James and Sebastián Bacale.

Viten Getafe suffered to score in the beginning and CBA led the scoreboard. That is why Saúl Menchén had to call a time out with 8-3. His indications were not effective and in minute 7 CBA Gran Canaria was winning 21-10, thanks to Roberto Guerra’s hook and  Berni Hernández’s three-pointer.

With 23-15 the second quarter began and the game continued with the same plan at halftime (38-27 after Joey Liem’s basket who made his debut in Adecco Plata on Saturday).

In the second half CBA maintained the margin (47-37, min. 25) but little by little Viten Getafe reduced its disadvantage and had a comeback: 49-51.

Finally, the last period was controlled by the opponent as CBA tried to overcome in the decisive moments (62-68). Then, Víctor Moreno scored a three-pointer that CBA Gran Canaria could not reply: 65-73 in the end. Furthermore, in these last minutes U18 Javier Menendez made his debut in Adecco Plata.

The most outstanding player were Berni Hernández (12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists) and Nicholas James (14 points y 14 rebounds) with 20 ranking points.
