Canarias Basketball Academy Director of Operations, Samuel Sosa, presented this morning the 1st CBA Tournament in the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria together with the Sports Local Councillor of the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carlos Ester.
This sport event is going to take place this following weekend (from the 17th to the 19th of October) at Jesús Telo and Juan Beltrán Sierra Sports Halls. The beginning is going to be on Friday evening and the closure, on Sunday midday, when the awards are going to be given.
Moreover, eight teams are going to compete from the U18 and senior categories and five of them are going to belong to CBA. The difference among those five will be that they are going to represent different zones of the city (Tafira, Las Canteras, Triana, Vegueta and Escaleritas) and CB Arenas, CB Aldebarán and CD Loyola are going to be the guest teams.
In that sense, Carlos Ester stood out that “we welcome this new sport event as it promotes that youth basketball is at its peak and alive in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria”. Furthermore, he explained that “this is going to be a internal championship because all the teams are from the city”.
On the other hand, the councillor stated that “this is a tournament that has been born to remain, and that is why Las Palmas de Gran Canaria council and the Town Sports Institute, which has loaned the facilities to develop the event, are going to collaborate”.
Finally, Ester congratulated CBA “because of its promotion to Adecco Plata and the excellent organization of this tournament”, as he reiterated its support “for any CBA activity so that basketball in this city can keep on being a reference both nationally and internationally”.
