Canarias Basketball Academy will also be represented in the U16 FIBA Américas that will be organized from the 10th to the 14th of June in Bahía Blanca (Argentina), where CBA’s Luis Antonio Álvarez and Diego Willis are already.


Both players repeat with this U16 generation as they were the Centrobasket champions last year after being the without a doubt starters and the keys of their team.

This important competition will gather Argentina, Brasil, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, USA and Venezuela.


Álvarez and Willis’ first opponent will be the host Argentina on the 10th of June at 8:30 pm. The following day Mexico will face Canada (at 18:15 h.) and in the third game it will  play vs Venezuela at 4 pm.

Besides, the semifinals are scheduled on the 13th whereas on the 14th not only the finalists will play (at 8:30 pm) but also the rest of the qualification games will be decided.

In addition to Willis and Álvarez, eight more players repeat: Pedro Nicolás Avelar, Salvador Martínez, Alfredo Ponton, Alexis Martínez, Moisés Andriassi, Javier Rex Jr., Jorge de la Serna and Alonso Landin. Besides, U16 Mexican coach, Javier González Rex, who will be assisted by César Landin and Isaías Ortiz Villanueva, has also chosen Javier García and Mayron Bean as players.
